Job summary

MSD Malaysia is seeking a Plant Engineering Intern to support the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of a world-class biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility. You will gain hands-on experience across engineering, maintenance, utilities and reliability activities while contributing to site objectives, operational excellence and patient supply.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing degree in engineering disciplines (Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical/Process/Manufacturing/Automation).
  • Strong technical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day Plant Engineering operations in accordance with Quality, Compliance and EHS requirements.
  • Assist in the monitoring, trending and analysis of engineering and maintenance performance metrics.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency and equipment performance.
  • Support engineering projects from planning through execution and close-out.
  • Assist with investigations, change controls, CAPAs and technical documentation activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of engineering procedures and industry best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment uptime, reliability and operational performance.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Utilities and other cross-functional site teams.
  • Present project updates and recommendations to engineering and site stakeholders.

Job description

Role Purpose

As a Plant Engineering Intern, you will work as part of the Plant Engineering team supporting the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of a world-class biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility. You will gain hands-on experience across engineering, maintenance, utilities and reliability activities while contributing to site objectives, operational excellence and patient supply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day Plant Engineering operations in accordance with Quality, Compliance and EHS requirements.
  • Assist in the monitoring, trending and analysis of engineering and maintenance performance metrics.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency and equipment performance.
  • Support engineering projects from planning through execution and close-out.
  • Assist with investigations, change controls, CAPAs and technical documentation activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of engineering procedures and industry best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment uptime, reliability and operational performance.

Candidate Requirements
  • Currently studying for a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Process, Manufacturing, Automation or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Strong technical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take ownership of assigned tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Knowledge or exposure to Plant Engineering, Utilities, Maintenance, Reliability or Calibration activities.
  2. Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environments.
  3. Interest in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
