TGS International Group is currently recruiting for an experienced Planning Manager – MEP to join a long-established M&E building services organisation delivering major projects across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for leading the planning function across major MEP projects, ensuring high-quality programme delivery, strong P6 governance and consistent planning standards across the business.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical planning expertise with proven team leadership, programme governance and stakeholder management experience.
The Role
As Planning Manager, you will:
- Lead and develop the planning team across major MEP projects.
- Own programme quality, planning standards and Primavera P6 governance.
- Develop, review and challenge project baselines and programme updates.
- Lead critical-path analysis, programme forecasting and recovery planning.
- Oversee progress reporting and ensure accurate programme updates.
- Integrate design, procurement, construction and commissioning programmes.
- Provide planning input across major mechanical and electrical packages.
- Support delay analysis, Extension of Time (EOT) submissions and Time Impact Analyses (TIA).
- Work closely with commercial and contracts teams on programme entitlement and delay matters.
- Monitor project risks and identify potential programme issues before they impact delivery.
- Establish consistent planning procedures, controls, coding and reporting standards.
- Develop planning KPIs and portfolio-level reporting.
- Allocate planners across projects and monitor the quality of their programmes.
- Coach, mentor and develop planners within the team.
- Work closely with Operations, Project Managers, Engineering, Commercial and Site teams.
- Present programme information and recommendations to senior management, directors and clients.
- Challenge programme assumptions and ensure schedules remain technically credible.
- Interpret MEP drawings, specifications and system information to support realistic programme logic.
The organisation delivers technically complex MEP projects across sectors including:
- Pharmaceutical
- Semiconductor
- Energy
- Commercial
Data Centre experience is advantageous, but the key requirement is substantial experience
planning large and technically complex MEP packages.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years' experience in construction planning, with significant MEP/building services experience.
- Proven experience operating at Planning Manager or equivalent senior level.
- Ability to build, interrogate, audit and govern complex programmes.
- Strong understanding of MEP sequencing and technical dependencies.
- Experience integrating design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning.
- Strong critical-path analysis and recovery planning experience.
- Experience with delay analysis, EOT submissions and/or Time Impact Analysis.
- Proven experience managing and developing planning teams.
- Experience establishing planning procedures, controls and reporting standards.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to challenge Project Managers and senior stakeholders constructively.
- Comfortable presenting programme information to senior management and clients.
- Strong understanding of MEP drawings, specifications and system information.
- Experience working across major, high-value MEP projects.
