Job summary

Hayes Mechanical Engineering Ltd. based in Drumminoe West, Ballintubber, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, is seeking experienced Pipe Fitters to join its team.

This full-time, permanent role offers 39 hours per week and an annual salary of €36,605 with a starting date of 13 November 2026. The position involves assembling, installing and maintaining pipe systems and reading blueprints. A minimum of two years’ experience is required, with on-the-job training provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience as a Pipe Fitter or in a similar role.
• No formal qualifications required; on‑the‑job training provided.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and isometric perspectives.
• Knowledge of geometry, pipe measurements and pipeline installation techniques.
• Experience in laying deep foul and surface water sewer pipes and constructing manholes.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, repair and maintain pipe systems, drains, gutters, ducts and related fittings for water, gas, drainage, sewerage and HVAC systems.
• Examine blueprints and technical drawings to determine system layouts and the materials required.
• Measure, cut, thread, bend, join, assemble and install pipes, fittings and fixtures.
• Lay clay, concrete or cast-iron pipes in ditches to form sewers, drains or water mains.
• Inspect and test installed systems using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing and visual inspection methods.
• Lay deep foul and surface water sewer pipes and construct foul and surface water manholes.
• Lay HDPE water mains and carry out water-main welding and testing.
• Operate soldering, welding and rigging equipment and use metal-bending techniques.
• Interpret pneumatic and hydraulic specifications for on-site installations.
• Follow health and safety procedures and ensure installations meet safety and production requirements.
