Job summary

Medforce is seeking a dedicated Physiotherapist to join a Childrens Disability CDNT team in Athlone. You will deliver family-centred, evidence-based physiotherapy for children and youths aged 0–18, focusing on participation, mobility and independence in home, school and community settings.

The role supports a multidisciplinary team, offers opportunities for clinical leadership, and requires CORU registration eligibility, paediatric experience, and a full driving licence where relevant.

Qualifications

  • Qualified physiotherapist with CORU registration eligibility.
  • Experience with children with disabilities is desirable.
  • Multidisciplinary or community-based experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive physiotherapy assessment and intervention for children and young people (0–18 years) with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement individualised, goal-focused intervention plans in collaboration with the child, family, and multidisciplinary team.
  • Deliver therapy using models including individual sessions, group programmes, consultative supports, and capacity-building approaches.
  • Support development of functional mobility, postural management, motor skills, and participation in daily activities.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and review assistive equipment, orthotics, and mobility aids where appropriate.
  • Provide education, advice, and training to parents, caregivers, and other professionals.
  • Contribute to transition planning across services including early years, school-age, and adolescent transitions.
  • Participate in supervision, performance review, and team development activities.

The Physiotherapist will work as part of a multidisciplinary Children’s Disability Network Team based in Athlone, providing family-centred, evidence-based assessment and intervention to children and young people with complex developmental needs. The role focuses on supporting participation, mobility, physical development, and independence within home, school, and community environments. Key Responsibilities of Physiotherapist – CDNT
  • Provide comprehensive physiotherapy assessment and intervention for children and young people (0–18 years) with a range of disabilities including physical, developmental, and complex needs.
  • Develop and implement individualised, goal-focused intervention plans in collaboration with the child, family, and multidisciplinary team.
  • Deliver therapy using a variety of models including individual sessions, group programmes, consultative supports, and capacity-building approaches.
  • Support the development of functional mobility, postural management, motor skills, and participation in daily activities.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and review assistive equipment, orthotics, and mobility aids where appropriate.

Requirements of Physiotherapist – CDNT
  • A recognised qualification in Physiotherapy.
  • Eligibility for registration with CORU as a Physiotherapist.
  • Experience working with children and young people with disabilities is desirable.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary or community-based setting is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of paediatric physiotherapy assessment and intervention approaches.
  • Full driving licence and access to transport may be required depending on service needs.
