Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, NJ, USA, also known as Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC, Rahway, NJ, USA, is seeking an Safety & Environmental Intern in Ireland to support the EHS team in promoting a safe and compliant workplace within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

You will assist with safety programs, inspections, training activities, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives while gaining practical experience in occupational health and safety.

Qualifications

• Candidate completing a qualification in environmental science, engineering, science or related discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in occupational health and safety.
• Ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support routine safety inspections, audits, and workplace observations.
• Assist with incident investigations and follow-up actions.
• Help maintain EHS records, metrics, and compliance documents.
• Participate in risk assessments and hazard identification activities.
• Support delivery of safety training and awareness campaigns.
• Assist with emergency preparedness activities, including drills.
• Analyze safety data and prepare reports and communications.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects related to safety and environmental performance.
