Pet Care Sales Representative

Contract Type: 6-Month Contract

About the Role

We are currently hiring on behalf of our client, a leading Irish pet care brand, for a motivated and customer-focused Pet Care Sales Representative to join our team on a six-month contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing an assigned sales territory, achieving sales targets, building strong customer relationships and identifying new business opportunities across the Irish pet retail, grocery, veterinary and agricultural sectors.

Working closely with the wider sales team, you will provide excellent customer service, product knowledge and commercial support while helping to grow sales and expand the customer base.

Key Responsibilities

• Sales Performance: Achieve agreed sales targets, budgets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Territory Management: Manage and develop the assigned territory, maximising sales opportunities and maintaining existing business.
• Customer Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with pet shops, grocery retailers, veterinary practices and agricultural customers.
• New Business Development: Identify and secure new customers to expand the customer base and grow sales.
• Customer Support: Provide excellent service and respond to customer queries and issues promptly and professionally.
• Product Development: Introduce new products and ranges, promote core products and drive sales of company-manufactured products.
• Account Management: Manage customer orders, pricing files, trading terms and individual customer requirements.
• Credit Control: Support cash collection, monitor customer accounts and manage aged debt in line with agreed targets.
• Product Knowledge: Provide customers with relevant product information and technical and commercial support.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team to identify opportunities, share market insights and achieve sales objectives.

Essential Requirements

• Previous sales experience in FMCG, pet care, retail, veterinary, agricultural or a related industry.
• Knowledge of the Irish grocery and pet retail market, including competitors and market trends.
• A full, clean and valid driving licence.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• A customer-focused approach with strong commercial awareness.
• The ability to identify sales opportunities and work towards targets.
• Good IT, organisational and administrative skills.
• The ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
• A proactive, enthusiastic and solutions-focused attitude.

Working Environment

This is a field-based role involving regular customer visits and travel throughout the assigned territory. Attendance at the office will also be required for sales meetings, training and team collaboration.

The role involves regular driving, daily use of IT equipment and compliance with relevant health and safety requirements, including manual handling procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a motivated and personable sales professional with an interest in pet care and a passion for developing customer relationships and achieving results.

You will be organised, commercially aware and confident managing your own territory, with the ability to develop existing accounts and identify new business opportunities.
