Payroll & Benefits Supervisor

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Contract: full-time & permanent

The Payroll and Benefits Supervisor is responsible for supervising the accurate, timely and compliant delivery of payroll and benefits administration for employees based in Ireland.

The role will initially oversee the outsourced Irish payroll service, ensuring payroll outputs from the external provider are accurate, fully validated and delivered in collaboration with our Offshore Payroll team, in line with agreed deadlines and statutory requirements. A key focus of the role will be supporting the transition of Irish payroll from an outsourced bureau model to an in-house payroll operation.

This position will play a critical role in ensuring a smooth migration, including process mapping, data validation, parallel payroll testing, control development, system readiness and post-implementation stabilisation

The role requires strong Irish payroll knowledge with recognised qualification, benefits administration experience, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work closely with HR, Finance, Reward, IT, external payroll providers and senior payroll leadership

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Payroll Delivery and Supervision

Supervise the end-to-end Irish payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

Manage payroll inputs, validations, approvals, reconciliations and final payroll sign-off.

Oversee payroll data including starters, leavers, salary changes, allowances, bonuses, overtime, absence, statutory payments, deductions and benefits.

Review gross-to-net calculations, payroll reports, variance reports and exception outputs.

Ensure accurate processing of PAYE, PRSI, USC, pension deductions, benefits in kind and other statutory or voluntary deductions.

Ensure payroll submissions and statutory reporting requirements are completed in line with Irish Revenue requirements.

Act as the first point of escalation for Irish payroll issues, queries and discrepancies.

Maintain payroll calendars, cut-off dates and processing timetables.

Ensure payroll documentation, approvals and audit evidence are retained appropriately.

Benefits Administration

Supervise the administration of Irish employee benefits, ensuring benefit changes are accurately reflected in payroll.

Manage payroll-related benefit inputs, deductions and adjustments.

Liaise with pension providers, benefit providers, brokers and internal Reward teams.

Support administration of benefits such as pensions, healthcare, life assurance, income protection, company car or car allowance, cycle-to-work, commuter schemes and other applicable benefits.

Ensure benefits are processed in line with company policy and Irish payroll/tax requirements.

Support annual benefit renewals, enrolment activity and employee communications.

Resolve employee benefits queries in a timely and professional manner.

Strong management and oversight of the outsourced payroll provider during the transition period.

Successful support of the migration from outsourced payroll to in-house processing on Chris21.

Effective payroll controls, reconciliations and governance.

Compliance with Irish payroll, tax, Revenue and statutory requirements.

Reduced payroll errors and improved first-time accuracy.

Timely resolution of employee payroll and benefits queries.

Previous experience in Irish payroll processing or payroll supervision.

Strong understanding of Irish payroll legislation and payroll deductions including PAYE, PRSI and USC.

Experience working with outsourced payroll providers or payroll bureaus.

Experience reviewing payroll outputs, reports, reconciliations and variance analysis.

Experience administering or supporting employee benefits in Ireland.

Knowledge of benefit-in-kind processing and pension administration.

Strong knowledge of payroll controls, payroll governance and audit requirements.

Experience handling employee payroll and benefits queries.

Ability to manage payroll deadlines and competing priorities.

Experience working with HR, Finance and external providers.

An excellent understanding of general payroll procedures and statutory calculations is essential

Good understanding of salary sacrifice scheme to ensure compliance

Understanding and experience of company & autoenrollment pension schemes and their reconciliation and payment over.

Highly computer literate, especially Microsoft Excel

Good Level of numeracy

Demonstrates attention to detail and the desire to ensure quality in all aspects of work

Understands and maintains levels of confidentiality and integrity

Must have previous experience of payroll systems; CHRIS21 experience is an advantage but not essential

Experience supporting payroll system testing, parallel runs or payroll transformation projects is desirable.

Must have IPASS – Certification in Payroll Techniques Qualification.
