Job summary

Beacon Hospital in Dublin is seeking a Patient Set Down Area Executive to join our Main Reception / Patient Services team. You will welcome patients, visitors and drivers, provide directions and practical assistance while ensuring a warm, professional first impression.

You will monitor the set-down area, guide vehicles and pedestrians, and work with Security, Facilities and clinical teams to maintain safety and efficiency. A friendly, customer-focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Collaborating with Reception, Security, Facilities and clinical teams as needed.
• Providing basic wayfinding information and directing more detailed enquiries to the right service.

At Beacon Hospital, the patient experience starts before a patient reaches the reception desk. We are looking for a Patient Set Down Area Executive to join our Main Reception / Patient Services team and provide a warm, professional and helpful welcome to patients, visitors and drivers arriving at the hospital.

This is a highly visible front-of-house role where you will help ensure that our designated patient set-down area operates safely, efficiently and with the needs of our patients at its centre.

About the role

You will be one of the first members of the Beacon team that many patients and visitors meet. You will welcome people to the hospital, provide directions and practical assistance where appropriate, and help patients and visitors navigate their arrival calmly and confidently.

You will also monitor the set-down area, helping to ensure that it remains available for genuine short-duration patient drop-offs and that access routes, pedestrian crossings, emergency routes and accessible spaces remain clear.

The role involves:

• Welcoming patients and visitors in a warm, courteous and professional manner.
• Providing clear directions to Main Reception and other hospital entry points.
• Offering appropriate practical assistance while respecting each person's dignity, privacy, independence and choice.
• Supporting vulnerable, distressed or anxious patients with patience and empathy.
• Monitoring the patient set-down area and politely advising drivers of the permitted use and maximum waiting time.
• Supporting the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
• Identifying and escalating congestion, hazards, unsafe stopping or misuse of accessible spaces.
• Carrying out routine checks of the area and reporting any safety or maintenance issues.
• Working closely with Reception, Security, Facilities and clinical teams when assistance or escalation is required.
• Providing basic wayfinding information and directing more detailed enquiries to the appropriate hospital service.
• Responding appropriately to emergencies and following Beacon Hospital's emergency procedures.

About you

You will be a confident and approachable person who enjoys working with people and takes pride in providing excellent customer service.

You will ideally have previous experience in a customer-facing, reception, hospitality, security, transport, healthcare or public-service environment.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Is calm, patient and empathetic when dealing with vulnerable or frustrated people.
• Can provide clear and courteous instructions while confidently managing boundaries.
• Is observant, practical and able to exercise good judgement.
• Understands the importance of safety and knows when to elevate an issue.
• Is reliable, professional and comfortable working as part of a wider team.
• Is physically able to work outdoors, stand and walk for extended periods and work in varying weather conditions, subject to occupational health assessment and reasonable accommodation.
• Has basic literacy and digital skills to complete records and use hospital communication systems.

Experience supporting patients or older people, or knowledge of hospital services, site access or traffic and pedestrian safety, would be an advantage.
