Job summary

Beacon Limerick Hospital is seeking a Patient Services Executive (Fixed Term Contract) to provide administrative support across reception, appointments, tests and patient communications. You will handle telephone inquiries, prepare charts, collect monies and ensure confidentiality in a busy clinical environment.

Strong IT skills with MS Office and accuracy under pressure are essential. Reporting to the Operations Manager Beacon Limerick, you will work as part of a dedicated team to deliver

Qualifications

  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
  • FETAC Level 5 in Medical Administration is desirable.
  • Experience using IT systems, including MS Excel & Word.
  • At least 2 years of medical administration or secretarial experience.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming telephone calls.
  • Book appointments.
  • Liaise with Beacon Limerick/Hospital with regard to booking tests and procedures.
  • Preparing charts for clinics and running clinics for consultants.
  • Complete typing and follow up for all patient related correspondence as necessary.
  • Ensure that patient signature, processing bill, issuing receipts are carried out according as per policy and procedure.
  • Receive visitors, answer general questions and direct individual to the appropriate person.

Overall Purpose of Job

The purpose of this role is to provide administrative support in relation to the running of the practice to include dealing with telephone enquiries, booking appointments, tests and procedures, getting charts ready for clinics, collecting monies, dictation and any other administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Answer incoming telephone calls
  • Book appointments
  • Liaise with Beacon Limerick/Hospital with regard to booking tests and procedures
  • Preparing charts for clinics and running clinics for consultants
  • Complete typing and follow up for all patient related correspondence as necessary
  • Ensure that patient signature, processing bill, issuing receipts are carried out according as per policy and procedure.
  • Understand the Insurance claim methods and types of cover relevant for procedures in Beacon Limerick/Hospital.
  • Receive visitors, answer general questions and direct individual to the appropriate person.May perform miscellaneous duties.
  • Liaise with referring physician, staff and patients.
  • Have good knowledge of Microsoft Office and ECDL.Have basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Windows software.
  • Work well with others.

You will be aware of the confidential nature of Hospital work and in particular, the right of patients to confidentiality.To this end you will not discuss workings of the Beacon Limerick/Hospital or its patients with people outside the Beacon Limerick/Hospital, save as required to do so in the course of your work.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent
  • FETAC Level 5 Course in Medical Administration is desirable
  • Experience using IT systems, including MS Excel & Word.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of medical administration or secretarial experience preferably in a front-line role in a pressurised environment
