Job summary
The Irish Wheelchair Association in Carrick-on-Shannon invites applications for a part-time Young Adult Support Worker (32 hours/week) on a 1-year specified purpose contract. You will support School Leaver Service participants with physical disabilities through development activities and personal growth programmes.
Key duties include facilitating workshops, assisting with transportation, safeguarding, and promoting independence, while liaising with the School Leaver Service team.
Qualifications
- QQI Level 5 Care Support or equivalent is essential.
- QQI Major Awards relevant to IWA include Community & Health Services and Health Service Skills.
- Health Care Support qualification is considered relevant.
- Youth Work qualification is acceptable.
- A Full Driving Licence is required.
Responsibilities
- Support Service Manager and Officers to run group workshops and activities.
- Assist individuals with personal goals and participation in programmes.
- Support young adults in Rehabilitative Training activities and outings.
- Assist with safe transportation following Transport Handbook guidelines.
- Promote independence and maintain records for the Service Manager.
