Job summary

Waterford Intellectual Disability Association is seeking Part Time Care Assistants to join our Day Services team in Waterford. You will work a minimum of 120 hours over four weeks, Monday to Friday, in our Day Services setting.

We offer pension, CPD, an Employee Assistance Programme, paid leave, and a full Clean Driving Licence is required. The role emphasizes confidentiality, dignity, and person-centred care for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Qualifications

• A minimum of QQI Level 5 in Health Care/Social Care or equivalent.
• 1+ years’ experience as a Care Assistant in Intellectual Disabilities.
• Full Clean Driving Licence (manual transmission).
• Knowledge of HIQA and New Directions standards.

Responsibilities

• Organise and participate actively in recreational, educational and training programmes for service users.
• Foster and develop the social skills of each service user.
• Implement a Person Centred approach for each service user.
• Carry out risk assessments, implement care plans and conduct reviews.
• Assist service users with personal care as appropriate.
• Support service users with medication management.
• Provide a safe, empowering environment for service users.
