Job summary

Athletics Ireland is seeking a Disability in Sport Lead to develop opportunities for people with disabilities in athletics and physical activity. The post will build sustainable pathways, form strategic partnerships, and foster inclusive club culture for athletes, coaches and volunteers.

It requires flexibility for evenings and weekends and reports to the Director of Participation. The role emphasizes collaboration with disability NGBs, Active Disability Ireland, Paralympics Ireland and Local

Qualifications

• Experience in disability inclusion in sport and partnerships with disability orgs.
• Excellent interpersonal, planning, budgeting and reporting skills.
• Flexible to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for participation and performance for people with disabilities.
• Build partnerships with disability NGBs, Local Sports Partnerships and other stakeholders.
• Develop programmes with SIDO and regional officers to increase opportunities.
• Support clubs to boost participation and representation.
• Collaborate with coaches to create inclusive opportunities.
• Signpost new athletes to suitable clubs and support them early.
• Engage staff to foster inclusive training and competition environments.
• Be the primary contact for para-athletics queries.
• Work with Performance Team and disability bodies to support pathway athletes.
• Support para-athletics talent pathways and identify new athletes through collaboration.

Education

Third-level degree in sports development or related field
