Job summary

Amazon Development Centre Ireland Limited is seeking an Optical Planning Engineer to design and plan global optical transport networks, including DWDM and dark fiber. You will develop capacity plans to scale ahead of demand and create planning tools to support growth and operations.

The role requires strong communication, project management and analytical skills, with a track record of delivering optical network planning at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, math, business or equivalent.
• Experience working in large-scale networking environments.
• Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan optical transport networks (DWDM, dark fiber).
• Develop capacity plans to scale networks before demand.
• Create and maintain planning tools and processes for growth and operations.
• Collaborate with Network Engineering, Capacity and Deployment teams to translate forecasts into build plans.
• Evaluate technologies and manage tender processes.
• Ensure designs meet architecture standards and long-term capacity strategies.
• Produce design packages, feasibility studies and span analyses for sites.
• Drive planning excellence to improve accuracy, lead time and quality.
• Identify and resolve planning challenges and optimize network performance and costs.
