Job summary

Amazon Development Centre Ireland Limited in Ireland is seeking an Optical Deployment Engineer to build and roll out global DWDM networks, drive scalable designs, and develop processes for operation and reliability.

You will collaborate with networking teams, evaluate equipment options, lead tender processes, and ensure adherence to standards while delivering innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Math, Engineering, Science or Business.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with rollout of large DWDM networks and Optical network technologies.
• Experience with optical planning and modelling tools.
• Professional development experience with Python or similar tool for network automation scripting.

As an Optical Deployment Engineer working within AWS Infrastructure you will:

• Build and rollout our global DWDM networks
• Drive scaling current DWDM designs to meet the demand of our customers
• Create processes that help operate and build our DWDM network
• Work closely with other Networking departments on new designs

• Ensure that the DWDM network adheres to the defined network standards

• Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions day to day on our network.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience with programming/scripting (Batch, VB, PowerShell, Java, C#, Chef, Perl, Ruby and/or PHP), or experience in Ubuntu/Solaris and experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
