Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Core Networking is seeking an Optical Network Development Engineer to design and deploy optical networking systems that connect our data centers. You will collaborate with hardware and software engineers to evaluate new optical technologies and develop solutions that improve data flow across our global infrastructure.

You will participate in design reviews, document technical findings, and mentor colleagues as you grow in the role, while partnering with regional teams

Qualifications

• 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
• 4+ years of Linux/Unix environment experience.
• Automation scripting experience in Python, Bash, Shell or Perl is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy optical network solutions that support data center connectivity and scalability across AWS global infrastructure
• Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to evaluate new optical hardware and software capabilities and develop implementation plans
• Develop and automate optical testing procedures to qualify optical modules and ensure performance and reliability
• Partner with network operations teams to identify operational issues and implement improvements
• Create and maintain technical documentation for network designs, tests, and procedures
