Job summary

News UK is seeking a Multimedia Local Journalist to be the eyes and ears of a franchise area. You will gather on‑location stories, interview community figures, and produce audio, video, and digital content for Onic News Hub and broadcast platforms.

You will work with local teams to develop long‑form discussions and podcasts while complying with Codes of Fairness and Impartiality. A driving license and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• A degree in journalism, media, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a reporter across radio, digital, or print platforms.
• Knowledge of your local franchise area and its issues.
• Experience with newsroom software (e.g., News Boss) and audio/video editing tools.
• Strong on‑air voice with ability to report breaking news with clarity.

Responsibilities

• Spend at least half of working hours on location to source and break exclusive news.
• Capture voices of local politicians, community leaders and citizens for broadcasts.
• Script local news copy and prepare high‑quality audio assets for the Onic News Hub.
