Job summary

Mediahuis IRL is seeking a Regional Journalist for Louth to report local news with a national reach on Independent.ie, working from our Dundalk hub alongside a team of regional reporters.

You will cover Local news, bring a national perspective to local stories, and contribute to Dundalk Argus and Drogheda Independent output while upholding high standards of accuracy and ethics.

Qualifications

• News reporting experience is essential.
• Full driving licence.
• Based in the region.
• Working experience of local journalism is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Local interviews and feature-writing to a high standard.
• Fast, breaking news from across Co Louth.
• Work closely with local photographers and freelance contributors.
• Liaise with the regional audience team and contribute to social media.
• Edit the content to a very high standard ensuring that all material published meets the legal and quality standards set out.
• Work closely with the editors in developing new ideas.

The Job In a Nutshell

Your work will focus on reporting on local news and bringing national perspective to local stories,contributing to our award-winning journalism. Your brief will be to report local news content fromCounty Louth for the Irish Independent online as part of a team of journalists based in our hub inDundalk, and for our associated regional print titles, the Dundalk Argus and Drogheda Independent.
