Job summary

Punch Consulting Engineers, a COWI company, seeks a Resident Engineer for a landmark redevelopment in Limerick. You will lead on-site engineering teams on a large residential project in a city-centre block including offices, a library and a public realm, with a hybrid office/home setup.

The role requires a degree in engineering, civil works experience and strong liaison with stakeholders, ensuring safety, quality and timely delivery across multiple contracts.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or construction management.
• Experience in civil engineering works.
• Awareness of duties under Safety, Health and Welfare at Work legislation.
• Experience liaising with statutory undertakers, stakeholders, and landowners.
• Experience supporting the Employer’s Representative for conciliation/arbitration.
• Contributed to development and review of the Construction Risk Register.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all site supervisory staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and deliver multiple construction contracts to high standards.
• Liaise with Employer’s Representative, contractor, client and stakeholders.
• Organise and maintain site supervision at all times during construction works.
• Maintain accurate site records, reports, diaries, correspondence, and photos.
• Assess contractor submissions for compliance with Works Requirements.
• Review contractor payment applications and value engineering proposals.
• Ensure contractor design submissions and variations are reviewed and documented.
• Monitor progress against the approved programme and report delays/risks.
• Ensure compliance with permits, licences and statutory approvals.
• Verify that Temporary Traffic Management Plans and construction phasing are implemented.
• Prepare responses for claims for extra payment or extensions of time.
• Support Employer’s Representative with site data, surveys and records.
• Assist with administration of the construction contract and records.
• Attend Construction Stage Monitoring Meetings and prepare progress reports.
