Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an electrician/engineer to support the East West Interconnector, ensuring safe and reliable operation across Ireland, the UK, and beyond. The role is based at Portan HVDC Converter Station, Batterstown, Co.

Meath, with on-call duties and travel as required. Ideal candidates are qualified electricians, technicians, or engineering graduates with experience in electrical power systems and the ability to interpret complex electrical drawings.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician, Electrical Technician, or Engineering graduate.
• Experience with electrical power systems or industrial electrical equipment.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
• Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota.

Responsibilities

• Support the safe and reliable operation of the East West Interconnector.
• Perform inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance activities.
• Support commissioning, upgrade, and outage activities.
• Provide technical support to customers and site teams.
• Complete maintenance records and technical reports.
• Contribute to root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support knowledge sharing and technical development within the wider team.
