Job summary

Medmark is hiring an Occupational Health Nurse for a client-site role in Ireland on a 20‑month fixed‑term contract. You will deliver on-site occupational health services, employee consultations, first aid and emergency treatment, and support phlebotomy services and drug testing as required.

You will liaise with the OH physician, manage medical records, and drive compliance with Abbott, OSHA and HSA standards while supporting wellness initiatives and risk assessments.

Qualifications

• Third Level Qualification in nursing or relevant medical qualification.
• Ideally previous experience in Occupational Health.
• Good Communication & interpersonal skills essential.
• Confidentiality is essential: tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
• Management and/or Leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site Occupational Health service including employee consultation, first aid and emergency treatment.
• Conduct pre-hire medical assessments to evaluate fitness for work and OH compliance.
• Oversee medical surveillance program in line with Abbott and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with Occupational Health Physician for internal/external medical assessments as required.
• Manage absenteeism reviews and timely referrals to the Occupational Health Physician.
• Implement case management plans and interventions to achieve timely outcomes.
• Support occupational illness/injury management, including incident investigations.
• Support on-site clinical testing by providing phlebotomy service.
• Conduct Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with site procedure.
• Oversee management of medical records in accordance with Abbott and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate the First Aid and AED programme.
• Complete gap assessments of the OH program to ensure compliance with Abbott/regulations.
• Maintain and implement OH procedures aligned with Abbott, OSHA, and HSA standards.
• Lead and support EHS projects and monitor OH KPIs.

Your mission

Clinical Services

Complete gap assessments of the OH program to ensure compliance with Abbott and regulatory requirements.

Maintain and implement OH procedures and programs aligned with Abbott, OSHA, and HSA standards.

Lead and support EHS projects using problem-solving tools to ensure legal compliance and business benefits.

Monitor and manage OH KPIs; define annual objectives and provide periodic status updates.

Contribute to OH risk assessments such as: ergonomic, biological, reproductive, chemical and make recommendations to control hazards.

Support and lead internal assessments, audits, and inspections including third-party and corporate reviews.

Employee Wellness & Engagement

Advise employees on work-related issues and wellness initiatives.

Organize and support health awareness programs including flu vaccinations, cancer prevention and mental health campaigns.

Act as company representative for employee health and well‑being initiatives.

Ensure effective execution and sustainability of employee wellness programs through education and support.

Advise senior leaders on strategic Occupational Health priorities, implement improvements that enhance employee wellbeing, and contribute to budget planning and resource allocation.

Lead the execution of Occupational Health strategy by defining annual goals, implementing targeted initiatives, conducting assessments and driving continuous improvement.

Collaborate with functional support teams providing advice on all elements of the OH management system.

Correspond with third parties including corporate teams, contractors, and agencies for reporting and audits.

Develop and deliver training sessions on topics such as industrial hygiene, ergonomics and biosafety.

Your profile

• Third Level Qualification in nursing or relevant medical qualification.
• Ideally previous relevant experience in Occupational Health.
• Good Communication & interpersonal skills are essential. This person will have to communicate with all Abbott employees/contractors. There is also requirement to communicate and work effectively with Div and Corporate representative and external bodies in the medical and safety field.
• Confidentiality is essential: Tact, diplomacy, sensitivity required in dealing with and counselling on health/safety matters.
