Job summary

St Luke’s Home in Cork is recruiting an Assistant Director of Nursing to join our team as a senior nursing manager. The role supports the Director of Nursing and leads clinical and operational care across the Home, ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate, person-centred care.

The position requires an experienced CNM with leadership skills and strong HIQA knowledge to drive continuous quality improvements within a supportive, well-run environment.

Qualifications

• Registered General Nurse listed on the general register maintained by An Bord Altranais.
• minimum of 3 years’ experience at CNM II or equivalent.
• QQI Level 6 qualification in Management or equivalent, or currently working towards one.
• strong knowledge of HIQA standards and regulatory requirements.
• excellent clinical, communication and leadership skills.
• calm, supportive and approachable management style.

Responsibilities

• Organise and manage the residential and day care operations of the Home and maintain high standards of care and ethos.
• Ensure residents are central to all activity with safety, privacy and dignity protected.
• Provide clinical and managerial leadership, developing an integrated team and driving quality improvements.
• Have working knowledge of HIQA standards and apply them to the role.
• Manage nursing teams (CNMs, RGNs, HCAs) and related roles.
• Participate in establishing systems of clinical and non-clinical support and address deficiencies.
• Maintain professional standards, confidentiality and ethics in all actions.
• Be innovative to handle crises and move the service forward.
• Champion and promote high-quality nursing care throughout the service.
• Provide on-call managerial cover for the Home as required and deputise for the DON when needed.
