Job summary

Respond is seeking a Nurse Manager to lead the Older Person’s Day Care Centre in Blackpool, Cork. The role oversees day-to-day nursing operations, staff management and delivery of high-quality care for older persons, on a fixed-term 1-year contract for 39 hours per week (Mon–Fri).

The successful candidate will coordinate multi-disciplinary services, manage admissions, and engage with families, GP services and the HSE to maintain professional standards in a community setting.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse with NMBI in General Division.
  • Minimum 5 years management experience or equivalent leadership in care services.
  • Desirable third-level qualification in a related field.
  • Demonstrates confidence, sympathy and client-centered approach.
  • Outgoing, relaxed and enthusiastic demeanor.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Experience working with older persons.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and participate in the multi-disciplinary team at the Day Care Centre.
  • Coordinate services with Physiotherapy, Dietetics and Podiatry.
  • Ensure Day Care Places are filled and maintained.
  • Organise nursing, care and support programmes daily.
  • Oversee admissions and discharges from the Centre.
  • Maintain attendance, nursing care records and annual returns.
  • Deploy Day Care Centre staff for optimal productivity.
  • Conduct staff performance reviews and feedback sessions.
  • Develop care plans that are individual and regularly evaluated.
  • Draft and implement standards, policies and procedures for staff.

Role : Nurse Manager

Location: St. Francis Gardens, Day Centre, Blackpool, Cork

Reporting to: The National Manager for Family Support and Specialist Services

Terms: Fixed term (1 year) contract – 39 Hours per week (Mon to Fri)

Salary: 48K – 51K (Please note that offers are typically made at the beginning to mid-range of the advertised salary, based on skills and experience)

Job Purpose:

To manage the day-to-day running of the Older Person’s Day Care Centre in Blackpool, Cork. To maintain a high standard of nursing care. To continue to develop clinical expertise, leadership and teaching skills through nursing practice. To support, facilitate and manage the delivery of excellent nursing care, and maintain a high standard of professional and ethical responsibility. To manage the admissions and discharges to the service. To manage staff and develop the service.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To manage and participate in the Multi-disciplinary team attached to the Day Care Centre.
  • To coordinate the provision of services required by older persons liaising in particular with Physiotherapy, Dietetics, and Podiatry.
  • To ensure that Day Care Places are filled.
  • Organise appropriate nursing, care and support programmes on a daily basis suitable for Service Users.
  • To take responsibility for the admissions/discharge procedure of the Centre.
  • To establish and maintain records of attendance, nursing care, statistical information, annual returns, and any other information as may be requested by the line manager, Respond or the HSE.
  • To manage and deploy Day Care Centre staff, to achieve maximum productivity and continuity of care.
  • Carry out Performance Reviews with staff and conduct monthly one-to-one feedback sessions.
  • Develop care plans, which are individual, appropriate, interactive and regularly evaluated.
  • Participate in the drafting and implementation of agreed standards, policies and procedures, ensuring all Day Care Centre Staff are familiar with and operate within the framework of these documents
  • Liaise with families and friends of Service Users.
  • Liaise with Medical services within the community e.g. General Practitioner, Public Health Nurse.
  • Arrange for the transport of Service Users to and from the Service

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Be registered in the General Division of the Live Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
  • Relevant experience within a similar position - Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar management position
  • A relevant third-level qualification is desirable
  • Demonstrate confidence and sympathy in dealing on a one-to-one and group basis with Service Users
  • Be outgoing, relaxed and enthusiastic
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and organisational skillsExperience working with Older persons
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
