Job summary
Bloomfield Hospital invites applications for a Nurse Educator to shape and deliver evidence-based training for registered nurses, HCAs and other disciplines within the centre.
The role focuses on curriculum design, quality assurance, and patient safety, supported by a multidisciplinary team in a 131-bed inpatient service in Dublin. A dual General/ Psychiatric Nursing qualification is desirable.
Qualifications
- Registered in General Division of Nursing with NMBI.
- Registered or eligible for Nurse Tutor registration with NM Ireland.
- Minimum of three years post-registration clinical experience.
- A dual qualification in General and Psychiatric Nursing is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate education programmes for nurses and other staff.
- Base programmes on up-to-date evidence and research to foster learning and patient safety.
- Lead curriculum development and ensure alignment with regulatory standards.

Bloomfield Hospital has an exciting opportunityfor a Nurse Educator to play an integral role in a committed multi-disciplinary team, and to make a significant contribution in the area of inpatient mental health treatment and care.
Work Location: Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, Ireland
Contract Type : Permanent, Full-Time
Working Hours: 78 hours fortnightly
Reports to: Director of Nursing and accountable to Assistant Directors of Nursing
We are a 131-bed inpatient mental health service, registered as an approved centre with the Mental Health Commission. Our ethos is rooted in honouring the dignity of every person who comes through our doors.
Bloomfield Hospital provides a spectrum of neuropsychiatric services to adults with a range of serious and enduring mental health needs such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s Diseases, as well as individuals with early onset dementias, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. We are the only facility in Ireland that provides a high level of specialized care for people with Huntington’s disease.
In Bloomfield Hospital there is a focus on creating a therapeutic environment by using recovery-oriented clinical practices and therapeutic interventions, which are evidence-based, to enable and support patients to achieve their highest level of functioning and quality of life. This care is delivered through a Multidisciplinary Team including colleagues in Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, and General Practice.
We have over 200 multidisciplinary team members delivering the highest standards of care in a friendly and inclusive workplace.
The post holder will be involved in planning, developing, co-ordinating, delivering, and evaluating evidence-based, quality-assured education and training programmes for registered nurses of all grades, disciplines, Health Care Assistants and other disciplines, as relevant, within the Approved Centre.
Education and training programmes must be based on the most up-to-date evidence and research, and provide an engaging and challenging forum in which to foster collaborative learning, reflection on practice and innovation. The principles of quality and patient safety, and person-centredness, must underpin and be applied to all programmes.
- Registered in the General Division of Nursing with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
- Registered, or are eligible for registration, as a Nurse Tutor with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Ireland.
- Have a minimum of three years post registration clinical experience.
- A dual qualification in General and Psychiatric Nursing is desirable.
- Demonstrate knowledge of emerging professional developments in nursing/ and the wider health service.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the organisation and management of continuing education and professional development activities in nursing.
- Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum design and development and the process of programme approval by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
- Demonstrate ability to apply education theory to teaching, facilitating, assessing and supporting learners.
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of relevant legislation and requirements and standards of professional regulatory and academic awarding bodies.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to transmit information fluently and persuasively in an engaging manner.
- Demonstrate ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Demonstrate evidence of ability to provide constructive feedback to encourage learning.
- Demonstrate evidence of information technology literacy including ability to use email, PowerPoint, excel, database, search engines etc.
- Demonstrate evidence of organisation and time management skills to meet objectives within agreed timeframes and achieve quality results.
- Demonstrate evidence of effective planning and organisation skills including awareness of resource management, co-ordinating and scheduling of activities.
