Job summary

Bloomfield Hospital in Dublin is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (Mental Health) to lead and develop a team of Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants within inpatient mental health care. You will work under the Director of Nursing, ensuring high standards of clinical governance, safety, and regulatory compliance while delivering strategic and operational improvements in the nursing service.

The role requires 3 years post-registration in nursing with at least 1 year in adult mental

Qualifications

• Registered Psychiatric Nurse with An Bord Altranais essential.
• At least 3 years post-registration nursing experience with ≥1 year in adult mental health.
• Experience in a healthcare/hospital setting, including acute mental health care.
• Clinical experience in palliative care desirable.
• Strong clinical, managerial and administrative competencies.
• Experience managing staff, budgets and workforce planning.
• Knowledge of Mental Health Commission requirements, leadership and governance.
• Clinical governance experience and multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Ability to lead, teach and support practice education.
• Knowledge of health, safety and statutory regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide continued strategic and operational development, coordination, and management following national and regulatory standards and with regard to best practices.
• Ensure the nursing service provision is delivered to the highest standard of treatment and care, and that safety is maintained.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory programmes including Health & Safety and Risk Management standards.
• As an active leader, deliver operational change programmes in the nursing service.
• Collaborate with residents, families, carers, nursing and other staff in goal setting and care planning.
• Participate in the multidisciplinary/healthcare team and work in cooperation with team members.
• Ensure practices, procedures, and policies conform to the service and strategic plans of the organization.

Bloomfield Hospital has an exciting opportunityfor a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 to jointly lead and develop a team of Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants, to play an integral role in a committed multi-disciplinary team, and to make a significant contribution in the area of inpatient mental treatment and care.

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time

Working Hours: 78 hours fortnightly

Reports to: Director of Nursing and accountable to CNM2/Assistant Director of Nursing

We are a 131-bed inpatient mental health service, registered as an approved centre with the Mental Health Commission. Our ethos is rooted in honouring the dignity of every person who comes through our doors.

Bloomfield Hospital provides a spectrum of neuropsychiatric services to adults with a range of serious and enduring mental health needs such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s Diseases, as well as individuals with early onset dementias, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. We are the only facility in Ireland that provides a high level of specialized care for people with Huntington’s disease.

In Bloomfield Hospital there is a focus on creating a therapeutic environment by using recovery-oriented clinical practices and therapeutic interventions, which are evidence-based, to enable and support patients to achieve their highest level of functioning and quality of life. This care is delivered through a Multidisciplinary Team including colleagues in Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, and General Practice.

Responsibilities will include:

The successful candidates will meet the following requirements:

• A Registered Psychiatric Nurse with An Bord Altranais is essential.
• Possess 3 years post-registration nursing experience consisting of at least 1 year working in adult mental health services.
• Experience in a healthcare/hospital setting, including acute mental health care.
• Clinical experience in palliative care is desirable.
• Possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of clinical, managerial, and administrative competencies.
• Demonstrate experience in managing staff, budgets, and workforce planning.
• Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Commission requirements, leadership, and governance.
• Demonstrate clinical experience in working within a team of clinicians and knowledge of the concepts and operations of Clinical Governance.
• Demonstrate ability to lead, teach, manage, participate, in the practice education of students and registered nurses, and to promote and engage in the teaching/training/support of others as appropriate.
• Demonstrate knowledge and experience of health, safety, and other statutory regulations affecting a healthcare organization.
• Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional/personal development.
