Job summary

NEC Software Solutions, based in NEC Software Solutions, is seeking a part-time newborn hearing screening assistant for Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel. The role covers 18.75 hours per week across three days, with possible weekend work, in a supportive, family‑friendly hospital environment.

You will assist in the newborn screening process, communicate with parents, maintain accurate records, and ensure patient dignity and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Proven record of working with people.
• Strong IT skills are essential for this role.
• Healthcare background is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Promote a professional, welcoming, and caring environment - endorsing a family friendly approach to care.
• Communicate with and provide information for parents concerning hearing screening – obtain parental consent
• Carry out the hearing screening of newborn babies
• Inform parents of the screen outcome as dictated by NHSP protocols.
• Record clinical and test data accurately and ensure a timely transfer of information to the manager.
• Maintain patients' and families' dignity, privacy, and confidentiality always.
• Be aware of child protection issues and adhere to local procedures.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of procedures and policies relevant to this post.
• Take part in a rota to cover sickness and annual leave of colleagues as appropriate.
• Be able to work flexibly when required.
