Job summary

Irish Naval Service is recruiting Naval Service Recruits for General Service at the Naval Base, Haulbowline Island, Cobh, Co. Cork, Ireland. Recruits will undergo training to become Able Rate in seamanship, communications, mechanics or supplies and may be deployed to sea with the Naval Service.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 to under 39 years of age and provide proof of age.
• Height minimum 5ft 2in (157.48 cm) and measured during selection.
• No visible tattoos above collar during service.
• Must meet working permit eligibility to stay in Ireland.
• Must meet medical, physical and security clearance standards.

Responsibilities

• Participate in 13 weeks of Recruit Training to develop fitness, discipline and basic naval skills.
• After Recruit Training, undertake Ordinary to Able Rate Training in seamanship, communications, mechanics or supplies.
• Be assigned to a Naval Service ship with a two-year sea rotation.
• Perform general maintenance, boat operations, firefighting, and damage control.
• Take part in naval boarding teams during interdiction operations.
• Access further training opportunities to specialise and advance within the Naval Service.
