Job summary

The Irish Naval Service is seeking qualified Electrical/Electronic Technicians to join as Direct Entry Electrical Artificers. You will maintain and repair onboard electrical systems, including power generation, distribution and automated control systems.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and participation in emergency response operations such as firefighting and damage control; you will assist in inspections and testing to ensure operational readiness.

Qualifications

• HETAC Level 7 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics & Instrumentation, or Marine Electrotechnology.
• QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft in Electrical, Electrical Instrumentation, or Instrumentation.
• Applicants must be 18 years of age and under 39 years of age, with proof if progressing to next stage.
• Height requirement: at least 5 ft 2 in (157.48 cm).
• No tattoos visible above the collar during service; eligible for work permits for Defence Forces.
• Must meet medical, physical and security clearance standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and troubleshoot onboard electrical systems including power generation and distribution.
• Perform preventative maintenance and fault diagnosis of electrical/control systems.
• Participate in emergency response operations such as firefighting and damage control.
• Conduct routine inspections and system testing to ensure operational readiness.

Education
