Job summary

The Naval Service is recruiting Direct Entry Electrical Artificers to maintain and repair onboard electrical systems, including power generation, distribution and automated control systems. Base location across Naval Base, Haulbowline Island, Cork.

You will perform preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis and participate in emergency response operations to ensure readiness and safety of the fleet.

Qualifications

• Educational qualifications required for the role, including HETAC Level 7 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics & Instrumentation, or Marine Electrotechnology.
• QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft in Electrical, Electrical Instrumentation, or Instrumentation.
• Applicants must be 18+ and under 39 years old; provide age proof if progressing; height requirement; no tattoos above collar; work permit eligibility; medical/physical/security clearances.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of electrical systems on naval ships.
• Ensure operational readiness through maintenance of power generation and distribution infrastructure.
• Diagnose faults in electrical circuits, control systems and automated machinery.
• Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance and system testing.
• Assist in emergency response situations and exercises, including firefighting and damage control.

Education

HETAC Level 7 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics & Instrumentation, or Marine Electrotechnology

QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft in Electrical, Electrical Instrumentation, or Instrumentation
