Job summary

Naval Service is recruiting Direct Entry Electrical Engineering Officers to lead and manage critical onboard systems across the fleet. You will oversee electrical, electronic, and control systems during sea postings and later transition to shore-based roles at the Naval Base and Naval College in Cork.

Eligible candidates hold an Level 8 honours degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and must meet medical, physical, and security standards with Irish work eligibility.

Qualifications

• Citizenship: Irish citizen or legally entitled to work in Ireland
• Age: Under 50 years on 31 December in the year of application
• Level 8 (or higher) Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
• Or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Minister for Defence

Responsibilities

• Design, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of complex systems across the fleet
• Lead engineering teams during sea postings and manage onboard electrical, electronic, and control systems
• Leadership role within the Naval Service with training at the Naval College
• Shore-based roles at Naval Dockyard, Naval College, or Naval Base in project planning and maintenance operations
• Pursue funded CPD in areas such as Project Management, Engineering Master’s programmes, ATEX Standards, Energy Management, and Health & Safety qualifications
