Job summary

Portakabin Ireland in Donabate, Dublin is recruiting a Multi-Skilled Operative to join the Operations team on a permanent basis. You will assist with refurbishment, fit-out and installation of hire and sales units, ensuring they are maintained, repaired and cleaned to high standards.

The role requires Slinger/Signaller or carpentry operational experience, a full driving licence and the ability to read SOPs, RAMS and method statements. Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm, with safety as a priority.

Qualifications

• Experience and practical skills are gained within a specific trade.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as SOPs, RAMS and method statements.
• Full Irish Driving Licence.
• Industry recognised trade qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Practical experience in refurbishment, fit-out and installation in a construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Loading and off-loading, moving cabins (Slinger/Signaller ticket or 9T forklift licence).
• Painting and decorating hire fleet (painting experience).
• Fit and replace doors and windows, build partitions, repair walls and floors (carpentry experience).
• Maintain a safe, organised and compliant working environment.
• Carry out refurbishment, fit-out and installation activities per technical specs and SOPs, ensuring safe, quality and timely delivery.
• Apply trade skills independently, solve problems where possible and escalate issues to maintain progress.
• Work to refurbishment and fit-out timescales to support cost-effective project delivery.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the team, supporting others as needed.

We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Operative to join the Portakabin Ireland team in Donabate, Dublin.

The successful candidate will have Slinger/Signaller or carpentry operational experience and will assist with the day-to-day activities of the Operations Department, including the refurbishment, fitting out, and installation of hire and sales units, as well as small projects. This role ensures that all hire fleet and sales units are properly maintained, repaired, and cleaned.

In this role you will be required to:

• Loading and off-loading, moving cabins (Slinger/signaller ticket / 9T forklift driver licence).
• Painting and decorating hire fleet (painting experience).
• Fit and replace doors and windows, Build partitions as per drawings, Repair walls and floors (Carpentry experience).
• Maintain a safe, organised and compliant working environment, in line with health, safety and environmental standards.
• Carry out refurbishment, fit-out and installation activities in line with technical specifications, SOPs, RAMS and company standards, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required quality supporting on-time and cost-effective delivery for customers.
• Apply trade skills and experience to complete tasks independently, solving problems where possible and escalating issues when required to maintain progress.
• Work to agreed refurbishment and fit-out timescales, contributing to cost-effective and efficient project delivery.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the team, supporting activities outside own trade or expertise where qualified or experienced to do so.

Our Ideal Candidate

Experience and practical skills are gained within a specific trade:

• Operational experience in carpentry OR
• Practical operational experience in slinger/signaller operation
• Practical operational experience potentially within a construction environment
• Practical operational experience in painting.
• Driving licence.
• Practical skills are developed through technical training combined with supervised hands-on application.
• Industry recognised trade qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of site, yard, refurbishment and fit-out practices, including safe systems of work.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
• Proven ability to apply trade skills independently to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes.
