Job summary

Allied Health/Nursing in Co. Galway is seeking a Physiotherapist to join the Primary Care Adult Services team covering East Galway and South Roscommon.

The role focuses on autonomous practice within a multidisciplinary setting, delivering evidence‑based MSK assessment and intervention to promote independence, mobility and quality of life for adults. You will work with older adults, managing a diverse caseload including osteoarthritis, falls risk and post‑operative rehabilitation.

Qualifications

• BSc (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy and CORU registration.
• Experience with adult caseloads in community or Primary Care.
• Experience in elderly rehabilitation, falls prevention and age-related MSK disorders.
• Strong clinical reasoning and independent decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive physiotherapy assessment and treatment to adults in Primary Care setting.
• Manage a diverse caseload including MSK, chronic disease management, rehabilitation and age-related conditions.
• Assess and treat older adults with MSK presentations (OA, spinal pain, osteoporosis, frailty, post‑fracture/ post‑operative rehab).
• Develop individualized rehabilitation programmes to improve strength, balance, mobility, pain management and functional independence in the elderly.
• Provide falls prevention assessment and intervention.
• Provide home visits as required to support patients with mobility or functional limitations.
• Contribute to discharge planning and ageing in place strategies.
• Collaborate with GPs, OTs, PHNs, social workers and MDT members.
• Educate patients and carers on self‑management and exercise for MSK conditions.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in service development and audits.
