Job summary

Egis Lagan Services in Macroom, Cork, is seeking a Maintenance Operative to support day-to-day road maintenance at our Macroom depot.

The role includes call-out cover for out-of-hours emergencies on a roster (including night work), plus routine maintenance such as landscaping, road furniture cleaning, traffic management, patrols, incident response and winter maintenance. General duties apply.

Qualifications

• 2nd level education is required or equivalent.
• Class C driver's licence is required.
• Valid Safe Pass holder is required.
• Relevant maintenance experience is preferred.
• Evidence of practical experience in routine maintenance activities is required.
• Understanding of health and safety practices and principles is required.

Responsibilities

• The hands-on day-to-day maintenance tasks.
• Provide call-out cover to out-of-office hours’ emergency responses on a roster including night work.
• Carry out routine maintenance activities such as landscaping/grass cutting, road furniture cleaning, traffic management and patrols.
• Conduct inspections of the road network and respond to incidents; perform winter maintenance and litter collection.
• Undertake allocated maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and keep accurate records.

Key activities include winter maintenance, emergency and incident response, routine asset maintenance, inspections and patrolling, defect remedial works, traffic management and stakeholder liaison.

Job Description

The hands-on implementation of the day-to-day Project Road maintenance requirements.

To provide call-out cover to out-of-office hours’ emergency responses on a rostered basis including night work.

To carry out routine maintenance activities including:

• Landscaping / Grass cutting
• Road Furniture cleaning
• Traffic Management
• Routine patrols & inspections of the road network
• Incident response
• Winter Maintenance
• Litter collection
• General maintenance duties
• Fencing repairs
• Small civil works including concrete repairs, ducting etc.
• Keep accurate records of tasks completed
• Complete training as required

To undertake all allocated maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications

Essential:

• 2nd level education
• Class C drivers’ licence
• Valid Safe Pass holder
• Relevant experience with a background in Maintenance.
• Evidence of practical experience in one or more of the routine maintenance activities listed above
• An understanding of and commitment to health and safety practices and principles

Desirable:

Up-to-date training/qualifications in:

• Traffic Management
• H&S Related training - First Aid, Fire Warden, Manual Handling. Safety Rep.
• Other complementary work-related training courses/qualifications
• Experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, materials, tools, and practices used in performing the road maintenance activities

Licence/Certification:

• C Licence (preferred)
