Job summary

Egis Lagan Services is recruiting a Maintenance Operative for its Little Island, Cork Depot. This hands-on role covers day-to-day road maintenance, landscaping, grass cutting, traffic management and routine inspections on our Irish motorway network on behalf of TII.

• Two-level education completed; practical maintenance exposure preferred.

• Experience in routine road maintenance and related tasks is essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day road maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Provide call-out cover for out-of-hours emergencies on a roster (including night work).
• Perform landscaping, grass cutting, road furniture cleaning and traffic management.
• Conduct routine patrols and inspections of the road network; incident response.
• Assist with winter maintenance, litter collection and general maintenance duties.
• Undertake small civil works and fencing repairs; keep accurate task records; complete training.

Job description

Egis Lagan Services is located atR95W409 where we undertake motorway maintenance and renewals work on the Irish motorway and high speed dual carriageway network on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). Our responsibility extends to some 330km of motorway and high speed dual carriageway.

Key activities include winter maintenance, emergency and incident response, routine asset maintenance, inspections and patrolling, defect remedial works, traffic management and stakeholder liaison.

The company is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Operative for its Little Island, Cork Depot.

The hands-on implementation of the day-to-do Project Road maintenance requirements.

To provide call-out cover to out-of-office hours’ emergency responses on a rostered basis including night work.

To carry out routine maintenance activities including:

• Landscaping / Grass cutting
• Road Furniture cleaning
• Traffic Management
• Routine patrols & inspections of the road network
• Incident response
• Winter Maintenance
• Litter collection
• General maintenance duties
• Fencing repairs
• Small civil works including concrete repairs, ducting etc.
• Keep accurate records of tasks completed
• Complete training as required

To undertake all allocated maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential:

• 2nd level education
• Class C drivers’ licence
• Valid Safe Pass holder
• Relevant experience with a background in Maintenance.
• Evidence of practical experience in one or more of the routine maintenance activities listed above
• An understanding of and commitment to health and safety practices and principles

Desirable:

Up-to-date training/qualifications in:

• Traffic Management
• H&S Related training - First Aid, Fire Warden, Manual Handling. Safety Rep.
• Other complementary work-related training courses/qualifications
• Experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, materials, tools, and practices used in performing the road maintenance activities

Licence/Certification:

• C Licence (preferred)
