Job summary

Egis is recruiting a Maintenance Operative for our Macroom, Cork Depot. The role involves hands-on day-to-day road maintenance, including routine tasks and inspections, with a focus on safety and accuracy in record-keeping.

You will participate in call-out cover for out-of-hours emergencies, including night work, and undertake tasks such as landscaping, road furniture cleaning, traffic management, and minor civil works as required.

Qualifications

• Experience in road or civil maintenance would be beneficial.
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices.
• Ability to work hands-on across routine maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day road maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Provide call-out cover to out-of-hours emergencies on a rostered basis including night work.
• Perform routine maintenance activities: landscaping, road furniture cleaning, traffic management, litter collection, fencing repairs, and small civil works.

We maintain and operate 350 kilometres of Ireland’s motorway and high-speed dual carriageway network. In close collaboration with our client Transport Infrastructure Ireland, we deliver year-round services as part of the Motorway.

Key activities include winter maintenance, emergency and incident response, routine asset maintenance, inspections and patrolling, defect remedial works, traffic management and stakeholder liaison.

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Operative for ourMacroom, Cork Depot.

Urgent position/ Immediate start.

About the Role

The hands-on implementation of the day-to-day Project Road maintenance requirements.

To provide call-out cover to out-of-office hours’ emergency responses on a rostered basis including night work.

To carry out routine maintenance activities including:

• Landscaping / Grass cutting
• Road Furniture cleaning
• Traffic Management
• Routine patrols & inspections of the road network
• Incident response
• Winter Maintenance
• Litter collection
• General maintenance duties
• Fencing repairs
• Small civil works including concrete repairs, ducting etc.
• Keep accurate records of tasks completed
• Complete training as required

To undertake all allocated maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

What do we need from you

Essential:

• 2nd level education
• Class C drivers’ licence
• Valid Safe Pass holder
• Relevant experience with a background in Maintenance.
• Evidence of practical experience in one or more of the routine maintenance activities listed above
• An understanding of and commitment to health and safety practices and principles

Desirable:

Up-to-date training/qualifications in:

• Traffic Management
• H&S Related training - First Aid, Fire Warden, Manual Handling. Safety Rep.
• Other complementary work-related training courses/qualifications
• Experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, materials, tools, and practices used in performing the road maintenance activities

Licence/Certification:

• C Licence (preferred)

• Ireland (required)
