Job summary

Monzo in Dublin is seeking a Head of Model Risk Oversight for MBEU, leading the 2LOD framework across EU operations and ensuring models meet regulatory and internal standards. The role focuses on validation before deployment and collaboration with risk committees to uphold a strong risk culture.

You will oversee AI governance, model risk inventories, and regulatory alignment, with a hybrid working model in Dublin and occasional travel to London.

Qualifications

• Post-graduate degree (MSc or PhD) in a highly quantitative discipline.
• Advanced quantitative knowledge across retail credit risk scoring (PD, LGD, EAD) and IFRS9 impairment modeling.
• Experience in Model Risk Management within banking or regulatory consulting sectors.

Responsibilities

• Lead the 2LOD validation of all material and high-risk models prior to deployment.
• Evaluate mathematical logic, data lineage, conceptual soundness, stability and bias.
• Provide 2LOD independent oversight across risk domains including Credit Risk, Fraud & Financial Crime, and Financial Risk.
• Establish monitoring standards including back-testing, benchmarking and sensitivity analysis.
• Issue 2LOD Opinions and report validation findings to MROC and ERC/BRC.
• Challenge 1LOD quantitative teams to balance velocity with rigorous risk controls.
