Job summary

Circle Voluntary Housing Association is seeking a Mobile Maintenance Operative to perform essential repairs within homes and estates. You will work with Facilities and Tenancy Services to keep communal areas and properties safe and well-maintained, addressing carpentry, plastering, painting, and minor plumbing tasks as needed.

You will also assist with void works to support timely re-letting, ensure safety standards, liaise with contractors for larger projects, and help maintain outdoor spaces

Qualifications

  • Leaving Certificate including passes in Maths and English.
  • Relevant construction-related qualification or extensive experience in a similar role.
  • Current Safe Pass certification.
  • Competent in carrying out minor repairs and keeping accurate records.
  • Full, clean, and unrestricted Irish driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Standards: ensure work is completed safely with minimum disruption to tenants.

  • Estate Maintenance: maintain grounds, prune hedges, clear paths of moss or litter, and manage waste.

Job description

The Role

As a Mobile Maintenance Operative, you are responsible for carrying out essential repairs within homes and across estates. Working closely with the Facilities and Tenancy Services teams, you ensure communal areas and properties are maintained in a safe and high-quality condition.

Key Responsibilities
Reactive Void Repairs
  • General Repairs: Carry out carpentry, plastering, painting, minor plumbing, and minor
  • groundworks.
  • Timescales: Respond to all repair requests in line with organisational repairing timescales.
  • Void Management: Complete general void works to support the timely re-letting of properties.
  • Safety Standards: Ensure all work is completed safely with minimum disruption to tenants.
  • Contractor Liaison: Work alongside private contractors to ensure the satisfactory completion of larger works.
Estate Maintenance
  • Landscaping: Maintain grassed areas, prune hedges, treat weed, and manage planting.
  • Safety: Clear paths and steps of moss or lichen to prevent slip risks.
  • Cleanliness: Remove waste and graffiti; ensure gullies and traps are clear of blockages.
  • Systems: Act as a proficient user of fire alarm systems in apartment blocks, including resetting them.
  • Waste Management: Assist with loading skips and managing bulky waste or abandoned vehicles.
On-site Presence Support
  • Inspections: Support teams by pre-inspecting works and post-inspecting private contractor results.
  • Advice: Advise tenants on managing heating and condensation issues.
  • Logistics: Act as a key holder for community rooms and manage skip deliveries.
  • Events: Support Tenancy Services Officers in delivering community events.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
  • Education: Leaving Certificate including passes in Maths and English.
  • Qualifications: Relevant construction-related qualification or extensive experience in a similar role.
  • Certifications: Current Safe Pass certification.
  • Skills: Competent in carrying out minor repairs and keeping accurate records.
  • Licence: Full, clean, and unrestricted Irish driving licence.
