MS Dynamics Business Central Consultant – 8 Month Contract - Day Rate
Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced MS Dynamics Business Central Consultant to provide hands‑on functional support throughout a Business Central implementation, covering testing, deployment, post-go-live support and transition into business‑as‑usual operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day functional support to end users across Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, including Finance and other key operational functions.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), helping users complete test scenarios, capture results and identify issues requiring further investigation.
- Investigate and categorise system queries and issues, distinguishing between user support, process, data, permissions, configuration, integration and application defects.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, functional specialists and external delivery partners to troubleshoot issues and progress them through to resolution and retesting.
- Assist with deployment, cutover and post‑go‑live activities, providing functional support for critical transactions and helping resolve issues during the transition period.
- Maintain clear records of defects, support queries, outstanding actions and resolutions, ensuring appropriate ownership and follow‑up throughout the engagement.
- Produce practical support documentation, including user guides, FAQs, process information and knowledge articles, while identifying areas where additional user training may be beneficial.
- Support an effective transition into ongoing support by documenting outstanding items, known issues, recurring queries and relevant knowledge before completion of the contract.
Experience Required
- Minimum 3+ years' recent hands‑on experience supporting or consulting on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Previous involvement in at least one Business Central implementation, UAT programme, go-live or post‑implementation support engagement.
- Strong functional knowledge of Business Central Finance, including financial postings, dimensions, posting groups and reconciliation processes.
- Practical knowledge of at least two additional Business Central functional areas, such as purchasing, sales, inventory, warehousing, fixed assets or manufacturing.
- Experience troubleshooting functional and system issues and determining whether they relate to users, processes, data, access, configuration, defects or integrations.
- Experience working with Azure DevOps or a similar test, defect, ticketing or service‑management platform.
- Good understanding of Business Central permissions, roles, approval workflows and application controls.
- Strong stakeholder communication, issue management, troubleshooting and organisational skills, with the ability to support users across different levels of technical knowledge.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant certification, such as MB-800 or its current equivalent.
- Previous experience working with Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
- Exposure to Business Central within complex, multi‑location or operationally focused organisations.
- Familiarity with technologies within the wider Microsoft ecosystem, including Dynamics 365 CRM, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric or integrated business applications.
- Experience producing knowledge materials, supporting user training or transitioning an ERP implementation into a structured ongoing support environment.
- Familiarity with ITIL‑aligned service‑management practices would be beneficial.
Educational Requirements
- A third‑level qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems or a related discipline is advantageous.
- Relevant Microsoft Dynamics certifications and substantial practical Business Central experience will also be considered.
