Job summary

Collins McNicholas Recruitment is seeking a Microbiology Supervisor for our client in Killybegs, Donegal on a permanent contract. You will lead the laboratory Quality Management System, drive audits, and coach a team of technicians to ensure testing accuracy and regulatory compliance.

The role requires NFQ Level 8 in Science, 4+ years in a lab quality setting (microbiology/chemistry preferred), and strong ISO 17025 knowledge with proven leadership and IT skills.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in a laboratory quality role, preferably microbiology/chemistry.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 17025 and accredited lab environments.
• Proven leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong IT skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain the laboratory Quality Management System in line with ISO 17025 requirements.
• Manage quality documentation, accreditation activities, and ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory standards.
• Act as the primary contact during external audits and coordinate internal audit programmes and management reviews.
• Lead, coach and support a team of laboratory technicians, ensuring training and competency requirements are achieved.
• Oversee laboratory operations, ensuring customer requirements, testing standards and reporting accuracy are met.
• Drive continuous improvement through quality metrics, corrective actions and supplier performance management.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration schedules and quality records to support operational excellence.
