Job summary

Inform3 Recruitment is seeking a Metal Fabricator to join their Thurles site in Co. Tipperary. The role requires interpreting engineering drawings to cut, shape and join metals such as mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium using workshop machinery and welding.

You will perform cutting, joining and welding (MIG/TIG/MAG/MMA), conduct quality checks, and may work on-site installations on active construction projects. A SOLAS/FAS apprenticeship and several years’ experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship completed through SOLAS/FAS in metal fabrication.
• Several years’ experience in metal fabrication/site installation.
• Current safe pass card.
• Current manual handling training certificate.
• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage and lead a team.

Responsibilities

• Blueprint & Drawing Interpretation: Read and analyse technical drawings, CAD layouts, and specifications to plan build sequences.
• Material Preparation & Cutting: Mark out, measure, and cut metal sheets, plates, and structural sections using guillotines, bandsaws, plasma torches, or laser cutters.
• Joining & Welding: Assemble parts and join them using methods such as MIG, TIG, MAG, or MMA/Stick welding, or mechanical fasteners like bolts and rivets
• Quality Control & Inspection: Check finished components and welds against dimensional tolerances and visual/NDE examination standards
• Site or Workshop Work: Perform fabrication in a factory/workshop setting or install finished metalwork on active construction sites
• Safety & Maintenance: Maintain tools, operate machinery safely, wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and follow health and safety regulations.

About the Role:

Our client who is based in Co. Limerick have a requirement for a Metal Fabricator to join their expanding team in their site in Thurles Co. Tipperary.

• Successfully completed their SOLAS/ FAS metal fabrication apprenticeship
• Several years’ experience in the metal fabrication/site installation industry;

• A strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage and lead a team of individuals.
