Job summary

Primark is seeking an Assistant Designer in Ireland to translate trends into commercially viable product ranges. You will work with Designers, Buyers, and Merchandisers to ensure alignment with the brand and create strong, fashion-forward collections.

You should have at least 2 years’ experience in a Trainee or Assistant Designer role, a degree in fashion design, and strong Illustrator/Photoshop skills to produce design assets. This is a fast-paced role in a growing global business.

Qualifications

• Degree in fashion design or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a Trainee or Assistant Designer role.
• Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create design assets.
• Commercial mindset with ability to balance creativity and commerciality.
• Attention to detail and excellent planning skills to manage deadlines.
• Collaborative and creative attitude to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Research and spot trends, translating them into commercially viable concepts for Primark ranges.
• Support range development by assisting the Designer in building trend-led product ranges.
• Collaborate with Designers, Buyers, and Merchandisers to align with brand strategy.
• Manage design updates, critical path timelines, and prepare trend/design files for presentations and supplier meetings.
• Analyse past range performance with Buying/Merchandising to inform future decisions.
• Understand cost implications and how trends influence sales for profitable development.
