Job summary

Eurofins Biomnis Ireland is seeking a Medical Scientist/Biomedical Scientist – Histology to join our histopathology team. You will rotate through cut-up, embedding, microtomy and staining, contributing to patient-centred results.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Medical/Biomedical Science, full registration (CORU or HCPC), and at least 5 years in histology. You’ll work within ISO 15189 quality framework and support continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Science or Biomedical Science.
• Fully registered to practice as Medical Scientist with CORU or Biomedical Scientist with HCPC.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a working medical Histology lab.
• Willingness to rotate through all histology lab functions including cut-up, embedding, microtomy and stains.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through all functions of the histopathology lab (cut-up, embedding, microtomy, stains).
• Support ISO 15189 quality management and Total Quality Improvement.
• Carry out routine analyses and assist in implementing new methods.

Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Medical Scientist/Business Unit Manager and an integral part of the department’s team, the successful candidate will have practical experience in Cellular Pathology and the relevant histology knowledge. As a competent experienced Medical Scientist/Biomedical Scientist with a flexible approach to work, you will be required to rotate through all the functions of a histopathology laboratory including cut–up/dissection, embedding, microtomy (manual and automatic) and routine and special stains.

The ideal candidate will be an ambitious professional, working presently in a Medical Scientist/Biomedical Scientist role in Histology ideally, who is looking to advance their specific Histology focussed career with us.

Participating in the development and maintenance of the ISO 15189 quality management system which is patient centred and ensures quality focused results are provided for patient care, and to assist in the Total Quality Improvement of the department. While having the support of our team of dedicated medical professionals, you will perform a broad range of scientific work in the Histology laboratory under the supervision of senior colleagues. Duties will include carrying out routine analyses, and participating in implementing new methods.

Working Hours: 35 Hours p/w

Qualifications

Education

Holder of Bachelor’s degree in Medical Science or Biomedical Science

AND

• Candidates must be able to provide evidence that they are fully registered to practice as a Medical Scientist, with CORU or as Biomedical Scientist with HCPC.

Professional Experience

• 5 years’ experience specifically in a working medical Histology lab
