Job summary

Responsibilities

• Act under the supervision of the Medical Consultants in the provision of a Medicine service and to support the Consultants in their duties.
• To fully complete electronic (EHR) admission and discharge process for each patient.
• To admit patients from the Emergency Department.
• To attend daily ward rounds with the medical team.
• Take hand over of patients from consultants, HSE, and other clinical team, ensuring continuity of care with timely decisions.
• To review patients on a regular basis and inform the consultant of any issues.
• Document review findings in clinical notes and communicate with patients and partners.
• Respond to adverse occurrences e.g. injuries, falls, sudden illnesses etc.
• Contribute to quality improvement, risk management initiatives and policy development.
• Assist in the education of colleagues and staff.
• Act professionally and perform duties to optimise patient care and hospital reputation.
• Undertake any other duties as required, including assisting medical colleagues.

We are seeking a motivated medical registrar to join our team at Mater Private Network.

Job Title - Medical Registrar (Limerick)

Department - Medicine Radiation Oncology

Reports to - Clinically and professionally responsible to the attending Consultant. Administratively accountable to the Head of Workforce Planning

Purpose of the Post

To always provide quality care to all patients. The fundamental philosophy guiding this position is to promote and preserve the Mater Private Network Mission and Values while adhering to the Hospital’s health and safety regulations.

Registrars will be required to actively engage in continuing professional education and development in accordance with organisational / professional requirements.

The Department of Medicine is a consultant delivered service. The team consists of the

Medical Consultant who works in collaboration with the Medical Registrars in

patient care and in formulating management plans for patients

Key Responsibilities And Deliverables

• To act under the supervision of the Medical Consultants in the provision of a Medicine service and to support the Consultants in their duties.

• To review patients on a regular basis in accordance with the plan of care made at the beginning of the treatment and inform the consultant of any issues or problems.
• Document review findings in clinical notes, communication to patients and our partners in a timely manner
• To respond to any adverse occurrences e.g. injuries, falls, sudden illnesses etc, suffered by patients, visitors or staff.
• To contribute to quality improvement, risk management initiatives and policy development so that the overall Internal Medicine Service is of the highest quality and reflective of best practice.
• To assist in the education of colleagues and staff.
• To act and behave professionally and perform one’s duties in a manner that optimises patient care and protects and enhances the reputation of the Hospital.
• To undertake any other duties that may be required, which could include assisting medical colleagues throughout the hospital and acting as a resource for more junior colleagues.

Qualifications -

Medical degree, MBBS or equivalent and Current relevant Irish Medical Council Registration.

Experience -

Experience at Registrar level in an acute Hospital setting.
