To support the provision of Acute Medicine under the direction and supervision of the Consultant Medical Physicians in the Medical Society at Blackrock Clinic.
Personally and professionally you are accountable to the Patient. You are personally accountable for your own actions at all times.
The Doctor will at all time work under the direction of a consultant on the medical society at
Ensure all documentation is maintained in accordance with hospital policies.
Documenting patients on admission and writing appropriate follow up comments in the medical record.
Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests as requested by the Consultant.
Initiating and monitoring treatment according to Consultant protocol.
To carry out designated daily ward rounds on Patients.
Liaise in an effective and open way with all other team members and consultants to
promote a team approach to support.
Work within the quality system framework to meet with regulation and accreditation standards.
To Attend Cardiac Arrest in the Hospital.
Carry out ward rounds and participate in daily clinical duties.
Participate in Clinical Audit and present at least one audit during their attachment.
Review patients in the emergency room for the on call Consultant and liaise with Consultant.
Report relevant information verbally and in writing to appropriate personnel.
Respond appropriately to customer/colleague requests and questions.
Communicate appropriately with colleagues and other members of the health care team.
Recognise self-limitations and seek assistance.
Attend and contribute in staff meetings and team briefing.
Communicate in a manner that avoids antagonism, reduces conflict and prevents undue anxiety.
To attend and contribute to appropriate group meetings with other hospitals.
Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures which includes ensuring equipment used on the service is maintained to the required standard and defects are reported to appropriate authorities as soon as possible.
Implement agreed policies, procedures and safe professional practice.
Work in a safe manner with due care and attention to the safety of self and others.
Be aware of Risk Management issues, identify risks and take appropriate action.
Report any adverse incidents or near misses.
Adhere to department policies in relation to the Care and Safety of any equipment.
Actively participate in the improvement and development of the services by liaising with the appropriate personnel.
Carry out other duties appropriate to the post as required from time to time by the Consultant Physician.
Function within the limits of the hospitals’ policies, procedures and standards.
Support the Mission Statement of Blackrock Clinic.
Observe appropriate lines of authority.
Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other areas of the hospital as required.
Set annual goals and objectives
Continue to develop personal knowledge and skills.
Provide direct supervision to other members of the team when appropriate.
Participate in working groups to develop and promote quality service within Blackrock Clinic.
Participate in the education of learners and assist with the orientation of new personnel.
Present a professional appearance and is punctual.
