Job summary

NexVent is seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to lead a flagship pharmaceutical stainless steel pipework project in Athlone. The role involves supervising day-to-day installation, coordinating trades, ensuring quality and safety, reading drawings, and supporting commissioning.

Candidates should hold a mechanical trade qualification, have 5+ years supervising, and possess GMP/pharma project experience.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Pipefitting, Plumbing or related discipline.
• 5+ years' experience supervising mechanical construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day installation of stainless-steel process pipework on a live pharmaceutical project.
• Coordinate mechanical trades, subcontractors, and specialist installation teams.
• Ensure works are completed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and quality requirements.
• Monitor productivity and programme milestones, ensuring works remain on schedule.
• Liaise with Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, and client representatives.
• Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks and safety meetings.
• Ensure adherence to site Health & Safety procedures and pharmaceutical industry standards.
• Review and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, GA drawings, and installation documentation.
• Manage permit-to-work systems and support safe execution of all mechanical activities.
• Coordinate material deliveries, plant requirements, and workforce allocation.
• Carry out quality inspections and support testing, flushing, pressure testing, and commissioning activities.
• Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, and daily diaries.
• Identify and resolve technical issues to minimise programme impacts.

Mechanical Supervisor- Pharmaceutical Stainless Steel Pipework Project

Overview

An established mechanical engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join a flagship pharmaceutical project in Athlone. The successful candidate will oversee the installation of high-purity stainless steel pipework systems, manage site-based mechanical teams, and ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Requirements

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Pipefitting, Plumbing, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years' experience supervising mechanical construction projects.
• Proven experience delivering stainless steel process pipework projects within pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences, food & beverage, or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of mechanical installation methods and quality standards.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical documentation.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills.
• Strong focus on Health & Safety and quality compliance.
• Full Clean Driving Licence.
• Fluent English with strong communication skills.
• Experience working on GMP pharmaceutical projects.
• Safe Pass, Manual Handling and relevant site safety certifications.
• Supervisor, Foreman, or SSSTS/SMSTS-style training.
• Knowledge of welding procedures, testing, validation, and mechanical commissioning.
• Experience using digital reporting and quality management systems.
