Job summary

Dornan Engineering in Cork is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join our project teams on a pharmaceutical data centre project. You will conduct routine inspections, own snagging, and ensure installations meet client requirements and quality standards.

You will manage drawings, QA documentation, FOAK sign-offs, and turnover packages, working with subcontractors and stakeholders in a dynamic, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Mechanical trade qualification is required.
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical systems is required.
• Experience in pharmaceutical data centre environments is preferable.
• Good understanding of drawings, specs, quality procedures, and inspection/testing requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and proactive issue resolution.
• Strong document management and organisational skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections to verify quality and compliance of installations.
• Take ownership of snagging via scheduled walkdowns and site observations.
• Review installations to ensure client walkdowns have minimal snags.
• Manage and sign off FOAK process to ensure quality from the outset.
• Maintain control and distribution of drawings, schedules, specifications and related docs.
• Participate in Quality Surveillance Programme to verify installation quality.
• Compile and manage turnover packages with all required documentation.
• QA owner of allocated mechanical asset scope through construction to handover.
• Monitor subcontractor installation works and review QA documentation.
• Review and approve Test and Inspection records.

Mechanical Inspector - Cork

Dornan Engineering is a well established and leading Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and HVAC engineering and construction company, with major project experience across a wide range of sectors in Ireland, Europe and the UK.

Dornan are involved in projects across many sectors such as Pharmaceutical, Power, Waste to Energy, Commercial, Data Centre and Petrochemical.

Due to the continuous growth with Dornan Engineering, we are currently looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join the company on exciting projects.

At Dornanwe are currently recruiting an Mechanical Inspector to work on a pharmaceutical project in Cork.

Your day to day will include:

• Conduct routine inspections to verify the quality and compliance of installations.
• Take ownership of the snagging process through scheduled walkdowns and site observations.
• Review and critically assess installations to ensure client walkdowns are completed with minimal or no snags.
• Manage and sign off the First of a Kind (FOAK) process to ensure quality standards are achieved from the outset.
• Maintain control and distribution of construction drawings, schedules, specifications, and related documentation.
• Participate in the Quality Surveillance Programme to monitor and verify installation quality and compliance.
• Compile and manage turnover packages, ensuring all required quality and completion documentation is included and accurate.
• Perform routine inspections of the quality of installations and record snags / observations.
• Owner of snagging the installation both on scheduled walkdowns and surveillances / observations and inputting snags into snag management software.
• Deliver Benchmark / First of a kind process and sign off
• Completion of Tag Checklists for Mechanical Assets
• QA Owner of allocated Mechanical Asset scope to take from construction completion through Testing, inspecting and handover
• Monitoring and Surveillance of Subcontractor installation works and review of Quality documentation.
• Review and approval of Test and Inspection records
• Attendance at Quality and Commissioning Meetings as required.
• Ensure timely responses and close out of Quality observations, snags, BIM issues and NCR's

About You:

• Mechanical trade qualified
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical systems.
• Previous experience within a pharmaceutical datacentre environment preferable
• Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications, quality procedures, and inspection/testing requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve quality issues proactively.
• Strong document management and organisational skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic document management systems.
• 3 month contract initially
