We are seeking an experienced, time-served Mechanical Fitter to join our client's expanding workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, assembling, testing and installing bespoke machinery and conveyor systems designed by the engineering team.
Working from engineering drawings, assembly drawings and bills of materials (BOMs), you will transform fabricated parts and purchased components into fully assembled, reliable machines. You will also play an important role in testing and commissioning equipment at customer sites, working closely with electrical and automation engineers to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to work on a varied range of bespoke engineering projects within a growing, innovative business.
Mechanically assemble and build conveyor systems, labelling machinery, product handling equipment and automation cells using general arrangement drawings, assembly drawings and bills of materials.
Fit, align and assemble drive components, including motors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, chains, sprockets, belts, pulleys and couplings.
Install and connect pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, regulators, filter-regulator-lubricator (FRL) units and tubing, in accordance with pneumatic schematics.
Fit machine guarding, sensor brackets, frames and sub-assemblies, ensuring components are assembled accurately and within specified tolerances.
Carry out light drilling, tapping, cutting and bench-fitting tasks as required during machine assembly.
Conduct mechanical testing and factory acceptance testing (FAT) in collaboration with project and electrical teams before equipment is dispatched.
Install and commission machinery at customer sites throughout Ireland, providing support for occasional breakdowns, repairs and modifications.
Provide practical feedback to the design team on buildability, tolerances and potential design improvements, identifying and resolving drawing or BOM discrepancies before they affect production.
Complete build records, quality inspections and job documentation in accordance with the company's ISO 9001 quality management system.
Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop, following all relevant health and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and the safe use of lifting equipment.
Support, guide and mentor apprentices and junior team members, sharing practical knowledge and promoting high standards of workmanship.
A time-served Mechanical Fitter with a completed apprenticeship, holding a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Craft - Fitting, or an equivalent qualification such as Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting, or a recognised UK/EU equivalent.
A minimum of three years' post-apprenticeship experience in machine building, OEM assembly or industrial maintenance.
