Job summary

Vertiv is seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters for a hands-on role at our Burnfoot manufacturing site. You will assemble electrical switchgear and electromechanical systems from drawings and specs, ensuring high quality and safety standards.

Ideal candidates will have proven fitting experience, ability to read drawings, and on-site or field-service experience. The role may involve overtime and site support.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Assembler in manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience using engineering hand tools and workshop equipment.
  • Experience in electrical switchgear manufacture or similar.
  • Field service or on-site installation experience.
  • Familiarity with RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical assembly and fitting of electrical switchgear and electromechanical equipment.
  • Work from engineering drawings, manuals and technical documentation.
  • Fit, build and assemble components for new and repeat products.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality throughout the build process.
  • Identify and report defective or non-conforming components.
  • Complete MTOs and support material ordering for allocated tasks.
  • Support prototype and development builds.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
  • Work flexibly, including overtime and site support as required.

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter looking for a hands‑on role in a high-quality manufacturing environment?

Due to ongoing expansion, we are hiring multiple Mechanical Fitters to support the mechanical assembly of electrical switchgear and electromechanical systems in our Burnfoot site. This role suits skilled, practical individuals who take pride in workmanship, quality, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mechanical assembly and fitting of electrical switchgear and electromechanical equipment.
  • Working from engineering drawings, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Fitting, building, and assembling components for new and repeat products.
  • Ensuring high standards of workmanship and quality throughout the build process.
  • Identifying and reporting defective or non‑conforming components.
  • Completing MTOs and supporting material ordering for allocated tasks.
  • Supporting prototype and development builds.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
  • Working flexibly, including overtime and site support as required.
Essential Skills, Qualifications/Experience
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Assembler in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience using engineering hand tools and workshop equipment (e.g. punches, saws, benders, torquing tools)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to quality and safety
  • Experience in electrical switchgear manufacture or similar environment
  • Field service or on‑site installation experience
  • Familiarity with Risk Assessments and Method Statements
