Job summary

RED, an international M&E consultancy, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer for Dublin or Cork. The role involves running small projects, designing building services, and coordinating with clients and contractors to ensure functionality and compliance.

You will contribute to validation of design input, support project delivery, and deliver high-quality technical solutions across sectors, including data centres and healthcare. Hybrid working is possible.

Qualifications

• HND or degree qualification required or equivalent.
• Working towards MCIBSE/MIEE or equivalent.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
• Experience in specification design/drawing for at least one building type.
• Sound knowledge of health and safety issues and legislation.
• Knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel).
• Ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software.
• Good understanding of BS standards.
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
• Background in consulting or construction preferred.
• Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.
• Adhere to Ethics Charter guidelines of the group.

Responsibilities

• Run small projects: design, coordinate and monitor building services installations.
• Develop specifications for controls, instruments and operating systems.
• Survey and report on existing electrical/mechanical installations.
• Ensure designs meet functional specs and customer requirements.
• Represent the company at technical meetings with clients and teams.
• Prepare specification modifications in Word or Excel.
• Ensure calculations/drawings meet industry and legal standards.
• Support validation of input from engineers into designs.
• Assist project delivery per project management and QA/QC processes.
