Job summary

Glanua Limited is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a collaborative, one-team culture focused on water and wastewater treatment projects. You will design and deliver mechanical outputs across project stages, under guidance from a Senior/Lead Engineer, while maintaining H&S and CDM compliance.

The role involves liaising with electrical and civil/structural teams, contributing to knowledge networks, and potentially travelling within the UK and Ireland to support workload.

Qualifications

  • Experience of the layout and interconnectivity of typical water and wastewater treatment works processes and equipment including pumping systems.
  • Commitment to Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying with CDM regulations.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise mechanical design deliverables across all design stages.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with other engineering disciplines and the project team.
  • Willingness to contribute to and help develop technical knowledge networks.
  • Drive to stay abreast of current and emerging technical solutions.
  • Flexibility to travel within the UK and Ireland (head office in Ireland) would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Senior / Lead Mechanical Design Engineer.
  • Multi-disciplinary team member producing design deliverables for water, wastewater and process treatment plants.
  • Assist in all aspects of Mechanical design: site surveys, optioneering, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender pricing.
  • Produce procurement specifications and detailed design construction drawings.
  • Project manage third party designs and liaise with subcontractors/suppliers; assist installation and commissioning teams.
  • Ensure Design, Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards are adhered to.
  • Ensure client Technical Requirements are met; update Design Change Control.
  • Liaise between Electrical and Civil & Structural Designers.
  • Support growth and expansion of the direct delivery model; mentor junior staff.

Role:Mechanical Design Engineer

Location Base: Head Office, Loughrea, Co.Galway

The Role:

You will be part of a one-team culture while actively contributing to your own skills and experience producing the required outputs for a portfolio of projects under the guidance of the Senior / Lead Mechanical Design Engineer.

We are seeking Mechanical Design Engineers who can demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Provide commitment to excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying fully with complying fully with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM) and all other relevant H&S legislation.
  • Experience of the layout and interconnectivity of typical water and wastewater treatment works processes and equipment including pumping systems is desired
  • Strong communication skills to interact with other engineering disciplines and the project team
  • Ability to produce clear and concise mechanical design deliverables across all design stages of a project
  • Willingness to contribute to and help develop technical knowledge networks
  • A drive to be abreast of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions
  • Flexibility to travel within the UK (including Northern Ireland) and Ireland (where our head office is based) would be advantageous to help support our overall workload

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The main duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer are outlined as follows:

  • Reporting to the Senior / Lead Mechanical Design Engineer.
  • Part of a multi-disciplined team of engineers responsible to produce design deliverables for water, wastewater and process treatment plants.
  • Responsible for assisting in all aspects of Mechanical design from site surveys of existing assets, optioneering, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender pricing.
  • Production of procurement specifications for mechanical equipment and production of detailed design construction drawings.
  • Project managing third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams. Liaising with subcontractors / suppliers.
  • Work as part of a team to support project delivery function, embracing the ethos of a "one team" culture.nsure Design, Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to.
  • Ensure Glanua's & the Clients' Technical Requirements are met throughout the design.
  • Update Design Change Control.
  • Liaise between Electrical and Civil & Structural Designers
  • Be involved in the growth and development of the company including expansion of the direct delivery model.
  • Show an eagerness to learn and progress in your own career as well as the mentoring and training of more junior staff.
  • Other duties as required from time to time.
