Job summary

Glanua is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a one-team culture at our Head Office in Loughrea, Co. Galway. You will contribute to multiple projects under guidance from senior engineers, delivering mechanical design outputs for water and process treatment plants.

Key qualifications include H&S compliance, knowledge of water/wastewater processes, and strong communication across disciplines. Some travel within the UK and Ireland may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Produce design deliverables for water, wastewater and process plants.
  • Assist in all aspects of Mechanical design from site surveys to tender pricing.
  • Produce procurement specifications and detailed construction drawings.
  • Project manage third-party designs and support installation teams.
  • Liaise between Electrical and Civil/Structural Designers.
  • Contribute to growth and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Update and maintain Design Change Control and standards compliance.

Role: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location Base: Head Office, Loughrea, Co.Galway

The Role

You will be part of a one-team culture while actively contributing to your own skills and experience producing the required outputs for a portfolio of projects under the guidance of the Senior / Lead Mechanical Design Engineer.

We are seeking Mechanical Design Engineers who can demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Provide commitment to excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying fully with complying fully with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM) and all other relevant H&S legislation.
  • Experience of the layout and interconnectivity of typical water and wastewater treatment works processes and equipment including pumping systems is desired
  • Strong communication skills to interact with other engineering disciplines and the project team
  • Ability to produce clear and concise mechanical design deliverables across all design stages of a project
  • Willingness to contribute to and help develop technical knowledge networks
  • A drive to be abreast of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions
  • Flexibility to travel within the UK (including Northern Ireland) and Ireland (where our head office is based) would be advantageous to help support our overall workload
Main Duties and Responsibilities

The main duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer are outlined as follows:

  • Reporting to the Senior / Lead Mechanical Design Engineer.
  • Part of a multi-disciplined team of engineers responsible to produce design deliverables for water, wastewater and process treatment plants.
  • Responsible for assisting in all aspects of Mechanical design from site surveys of existing assets, optioneering, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender pricing.
  • Production of procurement specifications for mechanical equipment and production of detailed design construction drawings.
  • Project managing third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams. Liaising with subcontractors / suppliers.
  • Work as part of a team to support project delivery function, embracing the ethos of a “one team” culture.nsure Design, Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to.
  • Ensure Glanua’s & the Clients’ Technical Requirements are met throughout the design.
  • Update Design Change Control.
  • Liaise between Electrical and Civil & Structural Designers
  • Be involved in the growth and development of the company including expansion of the direct delivery model.
  • Show an eagerness to learn and progress in your own career as well as the mentoring and training of more junior staff.
  • Other duties as required from time to time.
